Blog for the day:

What a shame, couldn't complete today's route. It was so dangerous out there with the weather conditions. Got as far as I could but couldn't speak properly, shivering, not good. The rain with thunder & lightning was coming down just too much. I did the first climb and then up to James Bond airport. Coming down of it, couldn't feel my hands and shaking too much. Water was crossing their road and carrying debris, and water popping up your the drains. A new shinny road surface had just been laid and you could see the oil and water on the surface. So, had to make the difficult decision to put safety first and climb off.

We drove up the Col d'Azet to take a look, and yep it was the right choice. Animals on the road, not able to see more than a dozen meters in front with twisty corners. Again, with water flowing over the road surface. Hay bales were out ready for the TdF. I would have climbed the Col de Portet top at 2215 meters, the highest on my trip.

Weather a little better tomorrow and it's the mighty Col du Tourmalet.
